A Whistle Stop Tour of Progress at St Mary’s

As we enter the final phase of our refurbishment, works are progressing at pace all across the site. Take a whistle stop tour with us to see more of what’s been happening behind the scenes as we prepare for our reopening.

What a difference a coat of varnish makes!

Floor repairs in this area are close to completion, with a fresh layer of varnish being applied today. The floors have been sanded down and refinished in preparation for the final layer of varnish.

Anyone for a cuppa?

Coffee bar

The fixtures and fittings to our new Coffee Bar are coming together now, including that all important hot water tap! The café will enable visitors to enjoy refreshments from a seating area in the beautiful West End of St Mary’s. A damaged beam has caused a few difficulties in this area but, as you can see below, a new one is ready and waiting to be fitted.

While it may not be the most exciting of additions, extensive storage provision in this area will facilitate a wide range of work with our local community. The asymmetrical openings provide intriguing views of the building beyond.

Experts from specialist conservators Ark Stained Glass are currently onsite undertaking cleaning and repairs.

This work brings a whole new dimension to window cleaning!
