The Demise of Richard Thomas Parker
THE DEMISE OF RICHARD THOMAS PARKER – The last man to be publicly hanged in Nottingham on 10 August 1864.
Catherine Pincott-Allen (a.k.a. Emmaline Severn), a family descendant of the perpetrator, will bring a dark story from 1864 to you.
AN OFFENCE SO RANK IT SMELLS TO HEAVEN, A MOTHER’S MURDER!
Newark was where Parker had a butcher’s shop on Stodman Street; he married at St Mary Magdalene Church, and he was a frequent visitor to the many public houses in town!
Catherine will walk you through the events that led up to this felonious crime, take you to the murder scene, introduce you to the postmortem and lead you into the courtroom where you will decide his fate.
WHAT WILL YOU DECIDE?

Canons Hidden in Roses
Chopin’s Polonaises are amongst the composer’s most iconic works. Inspired by an old tape
recording of my great-grandmother, a Jewish pianist from Riga who studied in Berlin in the
1890s and 1900s and survived the horrors of the Nazi regime, I recorded these master
pieces for Resonus Classics earlier this year (to be released in January 2027), four of which
are featured in this recital.

26 YEARS OF TIME TRAVEL
EVERY FIELD TELLS A STORY, a talk given by Richard Pincott
26 years in the blink of an eye. That’s how it feels when I look over my shoulder to see how far we have travelled. Since 1999, we have journeyed through time surveying fields and investigating the history of our local landscapes. There have been many artefacts of interest, many highs, and many lows, but the treasure has and always will be, the stories the fields can tell. Our talk will lead you through those 26 years of discovery and introduce you to some of the investigations that we embarked upon.
We think you will be amazed; as we always say, Every Field Tells a Story.
Audience feedback - "He's like a male Mary Beard!"
