Day Five
By Andrew Fearn
Yesterday we finished in a small village called Bruma and a taxi took us to our hotel (Peter’s blog yesterday refers). So, this morning there was a reverse taxi ride for our start in Bruma again . The weather was slightly overcast but rain never threatened. After almost two hours walk, imagine our surprise when we passed behind our hotel! Fortunately we hadn’t realised this or there might have been some serious conversation about whether we should skip a bit. Naturally, we would not have submitted to temptation!
The last cafe on the route meant the inevitable orange juice and cake and thereafter we made quick progress. We chatted to some Americans and Irish girls and then embarked on a tedious bit of path alongside the motorway. The only amusing incident was when I noticed the Bishop apparently doing an audition for Strictly. I quickly realised that the cause of the nifty footwork was a yard long snake on the path. It did the sensible thing and slithered into the undergrowth.
After 18 miles we arrived in Sigueras in good time to spend a little time with our feet up in the sunshine..
