Day One
By Andrew Fearm
Having arrived late last night and overcome the problem of a locked and apparently deserted hotel, we set off this morning from Ferrol, a seaport in the Galicia region, not far from La Coruña. The Spanish Armada set sail from here!
There were a few early missteps (perhaps the Bishop searching for his flock?) but we soon found the distinctive scallop shaped signs which mark the route of the Camino.
It was a varied walk; we passed through the town and outskirts of Ferrol before following woodland paths and coastal ways along the banks of the estuary.
About 14 miles later, we are in our hotel in Neda and looking forward to our first Spanish dinner of the trip.
